I have used Flickr for many years myself and have loved it. Now that I am building my business around photography I have cut a bit down on the uploads - but I still love Flickr!
One of the great things about Flickr is that is that it has an open API so that people are free to create all sorts of fun applications - like this one.
Multicolr by Idee Lab extracts the colors from 10 million of the most “interesting” Creative Commons images on Flickr. Using a visual similarity technology you can navigate the collection by color.
I think this is pretty cool. It is fun to test out different color combination's and it certainly gives some inspiration! It is almost like my calibrator the Color Munki - just with millions of photos.
