Yesterday I went for a drive around Kabul. I ended up on the top of a little hill where hundreds of Afghans gather every Friday to fly kites. I went up there to photograph the kite flyers and kite runners - but ended up hanging up with a group of little girls who had no problem posing for me. The girls weren't there to fly kites - but to get water for their families... They are happy, silly, perfectly normal little girls but sometimes in this country you tend to forget that these are just normal people living their every-day life doing their every-day-normal things.
